First Thing's First

Well, I suppose I should probably start with some sort of introduction.  Perhaps we should backtrack further as I'm sure many of you will ask...why horror?  You're right.  Horror is associated with fear, distress and panic which, are not pleasant emotions to experience alone.
HOWEVER, I like horror; of course I'm a normal person that doesn't like being alone in the dark, and at night I still sprint from my bathroom back to my bedroom, and assume that just because I'm in my bed, everything's fine and the monsters can’t get me.
So, why do I like horror? As human beings, when it comes to films we choose our entertainment. We can decide to watch uplifting cheerful films where at the end everyone is arriving at the airport and they’re all hugging, and everyone’s happy; apart from Emma Thompson who was cheated on but they seem to be working it out so that’s alright. OR, we could watch films that make us sad like when the family is standing beside the tree where Marley was buried. (I would rather watch any horror film over one where a dog dies at the end.)
The thing is, I have tried to pinpoint what it is exactly that I like about horror films so much, however I haven’t come to just one conclusion.  Seriously, I could go on for hours about how much I adore my one-year-old Jack Russell, Fox Terrier dog called Frank.  But, I can’t find an explanation or justify the reason that I the adrenaline and fear of watching a film.  In my own words, there’s something about testing myself to see if I can get through it.  I feel almost triumphant at the end when I can sit back and think, “Hey, I watched that. Does that mean I’m fucked up?” Regardless, there are many examples which I have found to definitely be an interesting read. [1] Despite this, I still felt as though none of them accurately pinpoint why I like horror so much.  But to be honest, I’m sort of alright with not knowing.
I thought this could be a little space to write, and to share with you reviews of films; I’ve always wanted to try it, and if no one’s reading it, then that’s alright as well.  Take what you want from this blog, whether it’s just movie recommendations, or general interesting in the writing.  Regardless, I want you to enjoy. Cheers.
